| Bio: | Australian actress, real name Janet Mahoney. Took up acting while attending Queensland University and moved to England in 1977. Her big break came in 1981 when she was cast in Doctor Who as feisty air hostess Tegan Jovanka, companion to the fourth and fifth Doctors. Her stint on the programme of almost exactly 3 years was the longest of any of the Doctor’s companions (though Frazer Hines beats her for number of episodes). Her other TV credits include guest spots on Minder, long-running sitcom Shelley and children’s programme Murphy’s Mob. In the 1990s she turned her back on acting to become a theatrical agent, representing among others the Eighth Doctor himself, Paul McGann. | Links: |
