| Bio: | Yorkshire-born actress who cut her teeth on stage touring with the Royal Shakespeare Company before joining Doctor Who in 1970 as Liz Shaw, scientific advisor to UNIT and companion to the Third Doctor after his forced regeneration and exile to Earth. She stayed in the role for a year before leaving to start a family, and worked steadily afterwards, returning to the role of Liz Shaw in 1983’s The Five Doctors and in the spinoff P.R.O.B.E. video dramas in the 1990s. Her long list of other TV/movie roles over the years included appearances in Casualty, A Very British Coup, Harry Enfield’s Television Programme and Love Actually, not to mention the 1982 BBC adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles, starring none other than Tom Baker as Sherlock Holmes. Was married to Geoffrey Beevers who has his own connections to Doctor Who, most notably playing The Master in the 1981 episode The Keeper of Traken. | Links: |
