This remained a one-off for over a decade, until after Big Finish had acquired the licence for Doctor Who short fiction and decided to have a go, releasing 4 Short Trips CDs between 2010 and 2011. Instead of being readings of previously-published stories, the contents of these latter releases were exclusive to CD.
The series was clearly not a success, since it halted after four volumes. However, Big Finish did resume Short Trips audio releases in 2015 (a range which continues to the present day) — although these are only available as individual audio downloads, hence are not listed on this site since I don’t list download-only releases.
There is one exception to the latter — the 2015 download The Toy received a physical release on CD and hence is listed below. It was originally given away free as a subscriber exclusive for Hachette’s Doctor Who: The Complete History partwork, but subsequently offered for sale separately to the general public via the Hachette website.
