Note: Nearly identical to the first UK VHS edition but with a few minor differences: most obviously the addition of the “U” video certificate to the front cover — video certification having been made mandatory in the UK in late 1985. This re-release also sports a new catalogue number (BBCV 4072, compared to the original BBCV 2019), and a new set of end credits, incorporating freeze frames from the story. Cover blurb: |

Note: Movie format. Cover blurb: It is now the 21st Century and, in this feature-length adventure, Earth is completely dependent on “T-Mat”, a revolutionary form of instant travel. When the system breaks down, Doctor Who (Patrick Troughton) leads a dangerous expedition to the T-Mat relay station on the moon. There he finds that the relay station has fallen into the hands of the Ice Warriors who are planning an invasion of Earth! The Ice Warriors use T-Mat to transport seed pods to Earth. When the pods burst, they disgorge a deadly Martian fungus which spreads rapidly, extracting vital oxygen from the atmosphere. The only hope for a dying world is for the Doctor somehow to outwit the Ice Warriors and destroy the fungus before it’s too late. |
