Nothing surprising

Phobos like most of this range and like most of the latest Big Finish stories has improved in terms of pace and feel, but there is something missing in terms of depth and feel, there is an attempted subplot but its nothing gripping, you know the headhunter is there but where is the build up. A good story and an enjoyable listen.

Nicely Written, Average Episode

The Doctor and Lucy arrive in a snowy sports entertainment dome on Phobos, one of the moons of Mars. There are stories of dangerous alien creatures, but they don't keep the thrill-seekers from coming and enjoying their high risk sports. But now the threat is about to turn deadly...

Nicely scripted and well-acted, and having quality sound design, Phobos really doesn't try too hard, but ends up as a solid, entertaining episode.

Another Emotion Eating Monster

"Phobos" takes place on a kind of thrill resort on the Martian moon Phobos semi-run by ex-hippies. Of course, something is wrong here as one of the ex-hippies tells tales of monsters and the tourists start dying. It all has to do with "fear," which is what "Phobos" means. The resolution involves an ancient evil thingy that feeds on fear. This is old hat for Big Finish and they should make a contractual obligation with the writers never to use this contrivance again.
