A great start... fantastically surreal episode one, but I am afraid it was a bit downhill from there. Once the camp villains were revealed behind the scenes it all got a bit silly... But worth it for the great first episode.

Part One is brilliant, Part Two not so good, and so on. It's not bad, but the plot deteriorates rapidly towards the end, which is a shame as the regular cast are all brilliant and there are some great ideas here.

This had a classic start, had you thinking had twists and turns mad me think. But then we met the aliens and it all tumbled into a weak joke.
Never mind better luck next time. I give it 6 for 66% of the story, otherwise it would have been 1.

Okay, I feel the need to defend Memory Lane a bit here. The other reviews so far are very short, and make it sound like this is a bad story. Unfortunately, I can't say a lot without ruining the story's punchline resolution for those who haven't yet listened to this one, and that's something I just don't want to do. But I'll say this: I think it's necessary to approach Memory Lane with the right expectation. This story is *not* best approached with the expectation of it being a surreal, spooky brain-twister. The beginning is strange and interesting, yes. But it's not so much a bizarre story as a fun story. This is not the Twilight Zone, it's more like The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. This is not The Girl in the Fireplace, it's more like Love and Monsters. The regulars are in great form here, and are very enjoyable to listen to. They're given some good banter and some great, oddly humorous elements to work with. There are lots of mysterious things going on in the early part of the story, and we are gradually shown the reality behind the mysterious "Matrix" of Memory Lane. I felt that when we finally understand the full truth, it is not just a silly, weak joke, it's the revelation of a very alien race and its society, and a very interesting, if not earth-shattering concept. Approach Memory Lane with the right mindset, stick with it to the end, and you may find this to be a very entertaining installment.

Im so glad that Paul Mcgann was okay to return to the role of the eigth doctor in audio. He really gives brilliant performances. He seems to me to be the most laid back of all the doctors, taking everything in his stride. And therefore makes a suitable own style for his doctor. And its even better when he gets given great scripts!
Memory Lane is a great and interesting idea to say the least. There is a whole street as a prison, for a person who really actually hasnt done anything wrong at all. Mawvik should have had said more than just one line though, the only downpoint in this otherwise excellent story. Strong character performances and strong production all along the way guarantee a great story. A great first script from Eddie Robson, a great new doctor who writing find! This story actually never loses gravitas as it goes on, the suspense and intrigue is kept up right til the very end of the story. This is yet another very good outing from big finish!

Memory Lane is another false reality story. This seems pretty clear pretty early. The question is really why this false reality exists. The resolution is interesting because it turns out not to be the kind of evil plot that we are used to. It's amusing in places, especially in the exchanges between C'rizz and Kim Kronostska. It's not a brilliant story, but certainly worth listening to.
