Cover blurb: “I don’t think my life started until 1962, when I joined ‘the business!’" DEREK MARTIN has been one of the most authentic working class voices in British film and television since the 1960s. He appeared in many television series as an extra, including (of course) DOCTOR WHO, before moving into speaking parts while also being offered a job as a stuntman with HAVOC by Derek Ware. In 1971, following an injury on ELIZABETH R, DEREK concentrated more on his acting and was cast in an amazing number of programmes, including LAW AND ORDER, UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS, SURVIVORS, THE CHINESE DETECTIVE, THE SWEENEY, ANGELS, PRIVATE SCHULTZ, HART TO HART, EASTENDERS ... the list is endless! During this time, he had his only speaking part in DOCTOR WHO as Security Guard David Mitchell in IMAGE OF THE FENDAHL. His most notable film appearance was as James Cagney’s aide in Milos Forman’s epic film RAGTIME (1981).
