| Born: | 14 November 1959 (age 53) |
| Bio: | Liverpool-born actor, who made his name with an acclaimed starring role in the 1986 BBC TV mini-series The Monocled Mutineer. Followed this with notable roles in several movies such as Empire of the Sun, Alien 3 and Withnail & I, before being cast as the eighth incarnation of the Doctor in the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie. Unfortunately, due to poor ratings in the US, the movie "pilot" was not picked up for a full series as intended, but McGann has continued playing the Doctor up to the present day in Big Finish's series of audio dramas. He has also continued to work steadily in TV and movies, in particular being much-in-demand for voiceover work. | Links: |
