| Bio: | Scottish television writer and producer. Started his TV career writing the much-loved ITV children’s series Press Gang, followed by popular BBC2 sitcom Coupling. A long-time fan of Doctor Who, his first brush with the programme came when he wrote the Comic Relief charity skit The Curse of Fatal Death in 1999. Following the 2005 re-launch of the series, Moffat was one of a stable of writers who regularly contributed to the programme, with his episodes Blink and The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances being particularly well-received by fans and critics alike. Upon the departure of Russell T Davies in 2009, Moffat took over as showrunner and head writer of the programme, a role he held for eight years, covering the entirety of the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctor eras. In parallel, he has also enjoyed great success and acclaim as co-creator (with Mark Gatiss) of the BBC’s re-imagining of Sherlock, not to mention co-writing Steven Spielberg’s 2011 big-screen adaptation of The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn. | Links: |
