| Bio: | London-born actor and entertainer, best known to generations of TV viewers as the title character in Worzel Gummidge, and of course as the third incarnation of Doctor Who from 1970-1974. Started his acting career unpromisingly, being kicked out of RADA before becoming an officer in the Royal Navy during WWII. Returned to acting after the war, with a starring role in BBC radio series The Navy Lark and appearances in a number of Carry On movies before joining Doctor Who. Continued working steadily on TV, stage, and screen until his death in 1996, just days after the Doctor Who TV movie was aired. | Links: |
