Note:Also available as an audio reading. A one-off novel by acclaimed sci-fi novelist Michael Moorcock. Somewhat different from the other 11th Doctor novels — both in terms of page count (320 pages instead of the usual 250) and also in format: physically it's a larger hardback, with a dustjacket instead of the laminated covers of the new series hardbacks. Also, Moorcock is on record as saying he aimed his novel at "grown-ups" rather than the "family" audience (i.e. 8 years and up) normally targetted by the novels. From this point, the BBC have been publishing a "prestige" new series novel in a similar format once a year — in 2011 it was The Silent Stars Go By and in 2012 Dark Horizons.

Cover blurb:
'There are dark tides running through the universe...'

Miggea — a world on the very edge of reality. The cusp between this universe and the next. A point where space-time has worn thin, and is in danger of collapsing... And the venue for the grand finals of the competition to win the fabled Arrow of Law.

The Doctor and Amy have joined the Terraphiles — a group obsessed with all aspects of Earth's history, and dedicated to re-enacting ancient sporting events. They are determined to win the Arrow. But just getting to Miggea proves tricky. Reality is collapsing, ships are disappearing, and Captain Cornelius and his pirates are looking for easy pickings. Even when they arrive, the Doctor and Amy's troubles won't be over. They have to find out who is so desperate to get the Arrow of Law that they will kill for it. And uncover the traitor on their own team. And win the contest fair and square. And, of course, they need to save the universe from total destruction.

A thrilling, all-new adventure featuring the Doctor and Amy, as played by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in the spectacular hit series from BBC Television.

Cover blurb:
'Magical and unexpected. It's Doctor Who written by the most important living British fantasist, and it's as good as I'd hoped, and much funnier.' Neil Gaiman

The Terraphiles are a group obsessed with Earth's past and dedicated to re-enacting ancient sporting events. The Doctor and Amy join them on a trip to Miggea, a star on the very edge of reality, and venue for a competition to win the fabled Arrow of Law. But the Terraphiles' grasp of Earth history and customs is dubious to say the least, and just getting to Miggea is going to prove tricky.

For reality is falling apart, ships are disappearing, and Captain Cornelius and his pirates are looking for easy pickings. And the Doctor and Amy have to find out who is so desperate to get the Arrow of Law that they will kill for it.

'Delicious. The modern genre's most original voice has invited the Doctor into his multiverse for an adventure sparkling with wit and peril... Authentic Moorcock. Authentic Who. An essential read.' Stephen Baxter
